Frequently Asked Questions

How does receipt scanning work?
Point your camera at a receipt and Deduxe uses AI-powered OCR to automatically extract the vendor name, amount, date, and category. Most processing happens on your device for speed and privacy. For complex documents, a cloud OCR service may be used for better accuracy.
How accurate is mileage tracking?
Deduxe uses GPS with Kalman filtering and road-snapping technology to provide accurate mileage readings. For best results, ensure location permissions are set to "Always Allow" and keep your phone charged. GPS accuracy can vary based on environmental conditions (tunnels, dense urban areas, poor weather).
Does mileage tracking drain my battery?
Deduxe uses a two-tier GPS system: low-power mode when you're stationary, and high-accuracy mode only while driving. This significantly reduces battery usage compared to always-on GPS tracking.
How do I classify trips as business or personal?
Go to the Miles tab and tap "Classify Trips." You'll see a card for each unclassified trip — swipe right for business, left for personal. Over time, Deduxe learns your patterns and auto-classifies trips for you.
How do I export my data for tax filing?
Go to the Home screen, then navigate to Export. You can generate a CSV file (compatible with TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Xero) or a ZIP file that includes receipt images alongside the CSV. Exports can cover any date range or tax year.
Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored locally on your device. If you enable cloud backup, your data is backed up to your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud account — we never store your data on our servers.
What health accounts does Deduxe support?
Deduxe supports FSA (Flexible Spending Account), HSA (Health Savings Account), HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement), and DCFSA (Dependent Care FSA). You can track balances, contribution limits, and eligible expenses for each account.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To cancel, go to your device's subscription settings (not within the Deduxe app). Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Is Deduxe a tax filing service?
No. Deduxe is a tax deduction tracking and organizational tool. It helps you capture and organize your deductions throughout the year so you're prepared at tax time. You'll still need to file your taxes through TurboTax, a CPA, or another filing service.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual documents, trips, or health account records within the App. To delete all data, uninstall the App — since data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling removes everything. Note: cloud backups must be deleted separately through your cloud storage provider.

When reporting a bug, please include:

  • Your device model and operating system version
  • What you were doing when the issue occurred
  • What you expected to happen vs. what actually happened
  • Screenshots if possible (do not include sensitive financial information)
  • Whether the issue is reproducible (can you make it happen again?)
